Ultra-Large Format Project

JOURNEY WITH ME...into this free-find process camera; my investigation, experimentation, modification and future production of a photographic image!

Project Process Camera

What a wonderful find. My husband found this sitting outside of a print shop in Oregon that was in the process of moving. Free!!! When I called, the gentleman told me that I was welcome to it. They were no longer doing any film lab work. He had an extra lens that he would give me for free. If I don't want it, it goes to the dump on the weekend! Noooo! My husband of course grabbed this monster camera for me. My head is spinning with possible projects and modifications to turn it into a giant field camera...and so begins the journey.

After waiting impatiently for over a week, my husband and the camera have arrived! Getting the monster off of the trailer...

Standing at about 5'9" and almost a whopping 12 feet long, it has taken up a good portion of my home studio.

As it sits right now, it can neither function as its copy/process camera self, or as the field camera that I wish to transform it into. It will require much cleaning, some repair and modification. All I need is time, patience, some further education, materials, and...oh yes, money

My next step...

So many repairs to be done before I can begin! A few of the holes in the bellows are the size of a quarter! The camera had old and crumbling, what I am assuming was, electrical tape along the sides. I tried a more cosmetic fix, but finally opted for a more functional black duct tape. The holes were too numerous and large to consider another option at this time.
